Strengthening Readiness of the FLG Sector for LDC Graduation
As Bangladesh prepares for graduation from the Least Developed Country (LDC) category, strengthening the global competitiveness of the Footwear & Leathergoods (FLG) sector has become a strategic priority. As the country’s second-largest export-earning sector, with exports of approximately USD 1.76 billion in FY2025-26 and an ambition to achieve USD 5 billion in annual exports by 2030, the sector must prepare for evolving trade conditions and changes in preferential market access, including the gradual transition from the European Union’s Everything but Arms (EBA) arrangement. Discussions will focus on the Government’s graduation preparedness measures, priority policy and institutional support, and the role of private sector, industry, development partners & international buyers in facilitating a smooth transition.

Responsible Business Conduct (RBC): From Compliance to Competitive Advantage
Responsible Business Conduct (RBC) is becoming vital to global supply-chain competitiveness, as international buyers and brands place greater emphasis on labour rights, occupational health & safety, environmental sustainability and supply-chain due diligence. Evolving international standards and emerging regulatory requirements, particularly in the European Union, further emphasize the need for the Bangladesh Footwear, Leathergoods and Bags (FLG) sector to strengthen responsible business practices. This session will examine how the sector can move beyond a compliance-driven approach towards integrating RBC into business operations as a source of resilience, market access and competitiveness.

Traceability to Transparency: Roadmap to Digital Product Passport in the FLG Sector
Traceability and supply-chain transparency are becoming increasingly important for maintaining access to international markets, particularly as global buyers and regulators demand greater visibility into product origin, material composition, production processes and environmental performance. The European Union’s Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) and its Digital Product Passport (DPP) framework signal a growing shift towards verifiable product-level information and enhanced supply-chain accountability. This session will examine the implications of emerging traceability requirements for the FLG sector, assess existing capabilities and gaps in tracing raw materials, production processes and supplier networks, and explore the development of a phased, sector-wide roadmap towards DPP readiness.
